چکیده

The usual operation of a conductometric sensor device requires of an external energy source (i.e. an embedded heater). In the last years, the Joule effect in the sensing material, the so called self-heating effect, offered and alternative method to provide this energy: the probing current (or voltage) applied to measure the sensor signal also serves to heat up the sensor active film. Here, evidences of self-heating effects occurring on large arrays of nanostructures fabricated with low-cost methods are provided. The methodology is proven to be suitable to sense gases (humidity, NH3 and NO2) with low-powered heater-free devices. © 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Improving Gas Sensing Properties of Tin Oxide Nanowires Palladium-Coated Using a Low Cost Technique

Thin films of SnO2 nanowires were successfully prepared by using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process on quartz substrates. Afterwards, a thin  layer of palladium (Pd) as a catalyst was coated on top of nanowires. For the deposition of Pd, a simple and low cost technique of spray pyrolysis was employed, which caused an intensive enhancement on the sensing response of fabricated sensors...

Self-heating effect modeling of a carbon nanotube-based fieldeffect transistor (CNTFET)

We present the design and simulation of a single-walled carbon nanotube(SWCNT)-based field-effect transistor (FET) using Silvaco TCAD. In this paper, theself-heating effect modeling of the CNT MOSFET structure is performed and comparedwith conventional MOSFET structure having same channel length. The numericalresults are presented to show the self-heating effect on the I...

A Minimal-Cost Inherent-Feedback Approach for Low-Power MRF-Based Logic Gates

The Markov random field (MRF) theory has been accepted as a highly effective framework for designing noise-tolerant nanometer digital VLSI circuits. In MRF-based design, proper feedback lines are used to control noise and keep the circuits in their valid states. However, this methodology has encountered two major problems that have limited the application of highly noise immune MRF-based circui...

W-doped nanoporous TiO2 for high performances sensing material toward acetone gas

W-doped TiO2 with nanoporous structure was synthesized by a one-step low temperature hydrothermal method using TiOSO4 and (NH4)6H2W12O40•xH2O as titanium and tungsten sources. Structure, morphology, specific surface area and chemical state of samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). W-doped nanoporo...

Low-Cost and Rapid Fabrication of Metallic Nanostructures for Sensitive Biosensors Using Hot-Embossing and Dielectric-Heating Nanoimprint Methods

We propose two approaches-hot-embossing and dielectric-heating nanoimprinting methods-for low-cost and rapid fabrication of periodic nanostructures. Each nanofabrication process for the imprinted plastic nanostructures is completed within several seconds without the use of release agents and epoxy. Low-cost, large-area, and highly sensitive aluminum nanostructures on A4 size plastic films are f...
